Our roots

History

The beginning of the industrialization encouraged the young engineer Heinrich Wehrhahn to establish his machine shop H. WEHRHAHN in 1892.

Steam engines powered his first machines. Electricity was not yet available. Thanks to good fortune and hard work WEHRHAHN can look back to more than 100 years of successful manufacturing of machines for the building materials industry.

Not only good fortune but also other important criteria lead to continuous success and survival over such a long period, such as

•    good staff who identify themthelves with their company, as if it were their own, and who devote their
work, their ideas and quite often their whole life to the benefit of their company
•    the capability of the company to always adapt to changing market conditions and
     their requirements
•    customers who appreciate top quality and innovative technology of WEHRHAHN machines knowing that they will be well ahead of their competitors' standards with this equipment
•    political and economical conditions which allow to lead a company according to free market principles
     –  without any interference by government authorities
•    the best manufacturing facilities staffed by well-skilled reliable personnel who contribute to maintain the
     high standard of WEHRHAHN

With thanks we look back to the founder of our company, Heinrich Wehrhahn, who was the head of the company for more than 50 years. Two world wars, recessions, good and bad times have successfully been overcome. The WEHRHAHN production programm always centred around building materials, originally clay brick factories, saw mills and excavators. Since 1936, also plants for fibre-cement pipes and sheets. During the past decades also plants for the autoclaved aerated concrete production (AAC) and dry mix products have been developed.
